Your bills and EFLs don’t stick around.
Documents are never stored
When you upload an electricity bill or an Electricity Facts Label — whether to set up your current plan or to run a comparison — the file is held in memory for the lifetime of a single request and discarded immediately after. The original PDF or photo is never written to disk, never sent to long-term storage, and never indexed.
Your saved current plan
Signed-in users can save a baseline of their current plan so they don’t have to re-enter it each time they compare. Available on both Free and Pro. Only the plan fields you verify on the review screen are saved: provider, plan name, energy rate, base charge, TDU rate and service area, contract term, expiration date, early termination fee, and average monthly usage.
Account numbers, service addresses, ESIIDs, billing details, names, and anything else that happens to be on the document are dropped server-side before the save — a strict allowlist, not a blocklist. You can edit, replace, or archive your saved plan from the home screen at any time.
Stateless comparisons by default
The comparison itself (the score, the savings math, the recommendation) is not persisted unless you have explicitly opted in to saved comparison history. Without that opt-in, the result is shown to you once and never written to a database. You can turn the opt-in off at any time and delete past comparisons individually.
Account data
We store the email address you signed in with so you can find your saved plan and history later, and so we can contact you about billing if you upgrade to Pro. We do not sell or share this with third parties.
Logs
We keep structured operational logs to debug failures. PII like account numbers, names, and tokens are auto-redacted before logs leave our server. Email addresses are retained as an audit key on a small number of write endpoints.
Third parties
We send the contents of the bills and EFLs you upload to Anthropic’s Claude API to extract the plan details and generate the recommendation. Anthropic’s data-handling policy applies to that hop. We do not send your data to any other third party.
